Balgowlah Village Searches for New Santa Ahead of Christmas 2026

Balgowlah Village shopping centre is searching for someone to take on the role of Santa Claus this Christmas, with local residents encouraged to apply even if they have no previous experience, white beard or round belly.

Recruitment company Promoworks Australia is seeking a friendly and outgoing person to join the centre’s Christmas photography experience from 23 November to 24 December 2026. The position offers paid casual work, flexible shifts and training, with the full Santa costume provided.

No Beard, No Belly, No Problem

The search for Balgowlah’s next Santa is focused more on personality than appearance, with recruiters looking for someone who enjoys interacting with children and families. Promoworks Australia owner Brenda Oglesby said the successful applicant would not need to look like Santa when applying. The company can provide the familiar white beard and round belly as part of the costume.

Applicants also do not need previous experience in the role. Instead, recruiters are looking for someone who is warm, confident and comfortable engaging with families during Christmas photo sessions. The successful candidate will receive training before taking on the position, which involves welcoming families and posing for photographs throughout the festive season.

A Christmas Call-Out to Balgowlah Locals

Local residents are being encouraged to help find someone suitable for the role, with the search extending beyond experienced Christmas performers to anyone with the right personality. Recruiter Stephanie Smith has invited residents to suggest fathers, grandfathers, uncles or neighbours who might enjoy stepping into Santa’s boots. Those who know someone suitable are encouraged to pass on the opportunity and help spread the word.

The search places particular emphasis on finding someone who is good with children, enjoys meeting people and has an enthusiasm for Christmas. Confidence and an engaging personality are among the qualities recruiters hope to find.

Bringing Santa to the Village

The successful applicant will become part of Balgowlah Village’s seasonal photography experience, giving families an opportunity to meet Santa and have Christmas photographs taken. The advertised working period begins on 23 November and continues until Christmas Eve, although a separate public timetable for photography sessions has not been provided in the recruitment material.

The position is offered on a casual basis, with flexible shifts available. The advertisement does not specify an hourly pay rate, the number of shifts or a closing date for applications. Promoworks will provide the costume and training required for the role, meaning applicants will not need to purchase their own Santa outfit.
